Hunting Information

Draw Hunting Summary:

Most drawing hunts are available to both residents and nonresidents. Drawing hunts require an application fee and are awarded by lottery. Each year, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) publishes a Draw Hunt Supplement with specific information containing the drawing hunt opportunities and area boundaries. ADF&G has returned to having a single application period each year during November and December.

Draw Results:

The results of the November 1 – December 31, 2009 Draw application period will be announced by the end of March.

When to Apply:

The next application period for Draw hunts will be November 1 – December 31, 2010. Paper applications will be accepted during the month of November, while internet applications will be accepted during November and December.

How to Apply for Draw Hunts:
  1. Check the current Draw Hunt Supplement for your hunt number(s).
  2. You will need to purchase a valid hunting license if you do not already have one.
    (This license requirement does not apply to nonresident military applying to hunt on military land or residents under the age of 16)
  3. Non-resident hunters are also required to have a signed Guide-Client Agreement prior to applying for certain hunts. See the Draw Hunt Supplement for more information.
  4. Submit your application
    • Apply online (available November 1 – December 31, 2010)
    • Apply by mail (available November 1 – November 30, 2010)
